Drunk Driver Flips Horse And Buggy In Pennsylvania Crash: Police

A horse and buggy was flipped onto its side after being rear-ended by a suspected drunk driver in Lancaster County police announced on Monday, March 10.

Jeffery Donnelly, 49, of Lititz, was driving a 2012 Subaru WRX when he struck the buggy from behind at West Orange Street and Pfautz Avenue in Warwick Township, around 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, according to Northern Lancaster County Regional Police.

The buggy was occupied by Matthew King, 23, and Rosa King, 21, both of Manheim, authorities said. Rosa King was taken to the hospital for evaluation and later released. The horse was not injured.

Donnelly suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene before being taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence, investigators said. Police believe he was speeding at the time of the crash.

Both the buggy and the Subaru had to be towed from the scene.
